Aside from appreciating anime/manga series, wouldn’t it be nicer if you could have your own. But of course, you have to work on your drawing skills on your own by practicing. For this entry, it will supply you basic knowledge in digital coloring of your artworks through Photoshop.
Just follow these simple steps:
1. Scan your drawing then open the jpeg file using Photoshop application
2. To delete unnecessary dirt, press CTRL+L. A window box will appear with three tools that look like a dropper.
3. Click on white point dropper (place your mouse over the tools so the caption would appear) to click on unnecessary lines in your art and it will instantly disappear.
4. If you like to darken its outline, you could try adjusting the input levels.
5. Once done, go to Channels and CTRL + click the layer’s image under it. (all images on your workspace will be selected)
6. Press CTRL+SHIFT+I to reverse selection
7. Make a new layer then press ALT+BACKSPACE. (This would serve as your outline space/layer)
8. Make a new layer again that would serve as your coloring space/layer. Make sure to put this layer under the outline layer.
9. Then you can now start coloring those artworks using Photoshop. Just make sure to fill the color in your coloring space/layer.
10. Lastly, Practice and experiment!
