Before you even dare read this, I’m already warning you that this entry contains my sentiments over how Ichigo 100% ended. So if you haven’t read or watch the series yet, better stay away from here. But if you dare to continue on reading this, it’s most likely you already have an idea that Manaka Junpei (the lead character) ended up with Nishino (the blondie) rather than Toujo Aya (the gentle one). I know right? And because of this, it stirred quite an issue among fans.
Anyway, I’m actually one of those fans who are actually against it. Well I really have grown to like the character of Aya and it’s kind of disappointing, as well as sad, seeing how she got rejected in the end. The chapter where Aya is finally bidding goodbye to Manaka almost made me cry. Seriously, I think Junpei is an idiot. I mean -- if he really does have a feeling for Aya, why does he have to wait for Aya to confess when he can do it himself. Not to mention, he’s so indecisive and keeps on hanging around with lots of girls. So in the end, more girls just got their hearts broken. I just felt bad how things turned out for Aya at the end of the story. She could have ended up with Amachi, at least. A sequel, perhaps; although I doubt it would happen anymore. Oh well, things doesn’t always end up all perfect and Mizuki (the author) still exerted great efforts to make her fans happy, so let’s just move on. Furthermore, Mizuki have done more recent mangas and they’re also quite entertaining. You should also give it a shot.
So, Ichigo 100% had a surprising twist in the end. But overall, its plot and how the story progressed was a great ride for me – it’s fun, sad and inspiring. For that, I’ll give it a grade of 9 out of 10. The manga version is actually better than the anime.
